Dr. Carl Sundberg, Ph. D., BCBA-D, is the chief clinician and co-founder of the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism. He received his doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University under the direction of Dr. Jack Michael. While a graduate student, he taught behavior analysis at WMU. He has taught Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior at Ball State University. Dr. Sundberg has publications in The Journal of Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB), The Analysis of Verbal Behavior (TAVB) and A Collection of Reprints on Verbal Behavior. He has also been a guest peer reviewer for JEAB and TAVB and is a past president of the Hoosier Association for Behavior Analysis (HABA). Dr. Sundberg has over 30 years of experience using behavioral interventions to teach individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. He oversees the training of all the staff at BACA and consistently spends time with the clients. Eighty percent of his time is spent contributing to the training of staff and addressing specific client programs.

Devon Sundberg received her bachelors in psychology from Indiana University Bloomington, IN, and her masters in applied behavior analysis (ABA) from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. Devon is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has been practicing ABA as a behavior technician, parent trainer and clinical director for over 10 years. Devon and her husband, Dr. Carl Sundberg, BCBA-D, opened the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA) in 2009 and serve 120 clients in four different locations through a variety of programs. Devon and Carl have three, beautiful, young daughters.

Stacy received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from State University of New York College at Brockport in 1994. She initially worked at the May Center for Child Development in Massachusetts. Stacy began working at Behavior Analysts, Inc./STARS School in California in 1996. She worked under the director of Mark Sundberg, PhD, BCBA-D, James Partington, PhD, BCBA-D, and MaryAnn Powers Ph.D., BCBA-D. Stacy became a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) in 2000 and began consulting to home programs and in public/private school sectors. Stacy was the Manager of Training Division where she presented at nine workshop series throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, she was the instructor for two on-line classes for parents and professionals in applied behavior analysis and verbal behavior. In 2008, Stacy began consulting for Carl Sundberg, Ph.D., in Indiana. She earned her master’s degree in behavior analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2016. Stacy is currently the Director of Operations at BACA.

Each program has a Clinical Director that fulfills a role both clinical and managerial in nature. The Clinical Director is responsible for providing our Team Supervisors support and leadership through their direct supervision. They administer all employment and clinical policy, provide training, respond to parent concerns, ensure the adherence to ethical standards, act as a liaison between Adjunct Consultants and Team Supervisors, and set goals for BACA clinicians and provide feedback.

Melany received a B.A. in Speech Language Pathology from Butler University in 2001, and a M.A. in Special Education with Certifications in ABA and Autism from Ball State University in 2010. Melany is a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). Melany has over 11 years of experience in the Special Education and ABA/VB field. Melany worked as a Special Education Instructional Assistant for Carmel Clay Schools, ABA/VB therapist at the Children’s Autism Center in Ft. Wayne, IN and as an ABA/VB therapist, trainer and consultant at the VBCA under the supervision of Dr. Carl Sundberg. Melany is a member of HABA and was co-chair for the volunteer and registration committee for the HABA inaugural conference in 2009 and 2010. Melany is now acting as clinical director at the BACA 1 location.

Christina has been working with children on the autism spectrum since 2006. She has served clients in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota in both home-based and clinical settings. She received her B.S. degree in psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College (2006) and her M.S. degree in applied behavior analysis from St. Cloud State University (2012) under the supervision of Dr. John T. Rapp. Christina has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2012. Her research interests include verbal behavior, stereotypical behavior, staff training and early language acquisition. Her Master’s Thesis entitled, “Training Staff to Implement Brief Stimulus Preference Assessments” was published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis in 2014. Christina is a member of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and has presented for both ABAI and the Minnesota Northland Association for Behavior Analysis (MNABA).

Ann is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and received her BA in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, and her MA in applied behavior analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. She has 10 years of experience in the field of ABA and autism. Prior to coming to BACA, Ann worked for the Center for Autism and Related Disorders in California. During her eight years there, Ann provided behavior therapy and consultation within the home and school environments. Ann joined BACA in November 2011 as a team supervisor. While in this role, Ann provided direct consultation and developed appropriate programs for the clients she supervised. She also played a direct role in training therapists on implementing ABA and VB protocols. Ann then transitioned to being the BACA Atlas Clinic Director, where she worked with families in organizing their clinic visits, developing treatment and behavior reduction plans and assisted in the training of staff and families. She provided ongoing consultation with families once they left the clinic and assisted with any needs that the families may have had in regards to interventions, training, appropriate resources, and so on. Ann is now the clinical director of the BACA Prep location.

In 2013, Jennifer received a B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University. During this time, she worked at the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism as a summer intern. She returned to BACA upon graduation and worked as a Behavior Technician and BACA Z’s Parent Training Coordinator while completing courses for an M.A. in Professional Behavior Analysis through Florida Institute of Technology. Jennifer obtained her BCBA in March of 2016. She is currently working as a Team Supervisor at BACA Z. In 2019, Jennifer was promoted to Clinical Director at our BACA Z location.

Rae received her B.A. with a specialization in individual and family studies from Purdue University in 2004. She then worked for several years in the child care setting. During this time, Rae pursued her Master of Science in education from IUPUI completing it in 2009. In 2008, Rae began as one of 11 Infant and Toddler Specialists for the state of Indiana. This allowed Rae to assist families in finding appropriate child care for their children under the age of three. In this position, she was also able to provide both teachers and parents assistance in creating the best environment to serve individual and groups of children. In 2010, Rae started as a behavior technician with BACA. Since then she has filled several roles within BACA including behavior technician, clinical assistant, administrative assistant for BACA Z and currently as the Human Resources Manager.

Karen earned her B.S. from Indiana State University in 1982. She began her career working at Lambs Group Home in Goldsboro, North Carolina. While there she created and implemented treatment goals for residents. She conducted all family and job placement related conferences. Karen taught preschool from 2000-2008 at several central Indiana preschools, including the Goddard School. She completed courses for Curricular Resource Integration, managing classrooms for positive behaviors and lesson planning for all ages. Karen began at BACA in August of 2010 in the after-care program. After working in HR, she became the administrative assistant at BACA 1 in August of 2013. She has two sons, one of which is on the autism spectrum. Karen has been active in the Best Buddies organization and many autism charities.

Carrie Ann received a B.S. in family and child with minors in hospitality management, social work and psychology of human development from Ball State University in 2009. Carrie Ann has worked in the early childhood field as a preschool teacher at Wing Walkers, Eli Lilly’s Child Development Center as well as an activity director for American Senior Communities. Carrie Ann started working at the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism in 2012 as a behavior technician and began the role of materials coordinator in 2016. In 2019 she became the Administrative Assistant at BACA Prep.

Beth has been working in the ABA/VB field since 2008 under the director of Dr. Carl Sundberg. She has worked as a behavior technician, clinical trainer, NET consultant and training specialist. Beth also has four years of sales/management experience in various fields. She is currently the clinical director at the BACA Z location. In 2019, Beth was promoted to the Director of Family Services and Marketing position.

Lorraine has been the administrative assistant at BACA Hart since May 2012. She attended Ferris State University, Michigan, with a major in commercial art. After a year, she transferred to Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI, and received an A.S. degree for legal assistant. Lorraine worked as HR assistant and later administrative assistant to General Motors/Pontiac/Cadillac accounts in an advertising firm in Detroit, MI, administrative assistant in marketing for a manufacturing company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was a part of hospital administration for over 16 years in Missouri and Michigan and spent eight years as a mortgage payoff representative for a bank in Michigan. She became certified in loan operations through American Banking Association, was a staffing supervisor for Kelly Services and prior to BACA, worked for Woodwind & Brasswind, subsidiary of Guitar Center, as a school account representative for the West Coast, Hawaii and Alaska.

Elizabeth is the Controller for the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism. She has over 13 years of accounting experience. Elizabeth started her career in banking investments and has spent the last 10 years in a Controller/Director of Finance role for various companies in the service industry. She is also the treasurer for a non-profit that promotes the literary arts. Elizabeth received her Bachelors in Accounting and Finance from Indiana University, Kelly School of Business.

Ashley is BACA’s Eligibility Specialist as she is responsible for authorizations, eligibility, contracting and credentialing. She’s worked in administration for medical billing agencies, family practices and hospitals for the past 10 years in Michigan, Kansas, Texas and Indiana. Ashlee managed the billing department for a 14 provider family practice group out of Manhattan, KS, prior to coming to BACA. She has worked in many positions in the medical field including reception, medical coding, medical billing and revenue management. Ashlee studied medical billing and office administration at Ross Medical Education Center in Flint, MI.
